Books and Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp. Mention that name and most people will hail his many virtues, not only his acting skills. He is the king of cool. But now he is  turning his hand to publishing. He has teamed up with HarperCollins to create a new imprint which has the the same name as his production company, Infinitum Nihil, meaning ‘Nothing is forever’.

The publisher released a statement which included a quote from Depp: ‘I pledge, on behalf of Infinitum Nihil, that we will do our best to deliver publications worthy of peoples’ time, of peoples’ concern, publications that might ordinarily never have breached the parapet.’ All sounds very worthy but a bit serious to me. I’m sure Depp’s touch will be golden though.

Our intrepid subscription and library manager, Bonnie, headed off to Hobart for a few days R&R. Now back at work, all morning she has been espousing the highlights of what is now one of her favourite cities. The laid-back life, the bookshops, food and culture. She took with her a new little book called Hide & Seek: Hobartwhich she found really useful. Highly recommended for anyone heading to the Apple Isle. No Bonnie, we need you here, you can’t move to Tasmania!
